The IFWDA Wilstem Ride will be held August 7, 8, 9 at The Ranch (aka: Wilstem) near Paoli, IN.

Registration form is HERE.

We will NOT be renting a cabin this year. We simply don't have enough people interested to make the cost worthwhile. Camping is available (make sure you mark it on the registration form), and there are a couple of hotels nearby. I recommend the Midwest Inn near Paoli, or one of the hotels near the French Lick Casino (a bit farther away). Marlo and I have a room @ the Midwest, and they mentioned they are filling up!

We don't typically sign up for the two meals. We have hit local restaurants both nights, usually because we get back from the trails right at dinner time.

Other Registration info:
- Make sure you mark JPFrog as the club
- Mark Moderate for the trail type. We will have a large enough group to run together, and will stay within the group's capabilities.
- Don't forget your t-shirt!

General Info:
Morning Group
- Meet at the McDonalds at the US-37 and I-465 exit at 9AM on Friday morning (there is a large parking lot between the McDonalds and the truck stop).
- Head down, and likely stop at Bob's Super Burger for lunch (mmmm, grease...)
- Stake out the JPFrog camping area at the ranch

Afternoon Group
- Meet at the same place, but at 11:30AM
- Head straight to Wilstem
- Pitch tents (or check into the hotel), unload, and get ready to hit the trails

We will hit a few trails Friday afternoon, and then head out for dinner. There is a nice Mexican resturant in town. Some folks hit the casino in French Lick last year. There is also a bar/resturant we have eaten at in the past.

Saturday is trail riding all morning, break for lunch (at camp or in town), and trails again all afternoon. Saturday night is dinner out again, and then hang out at the party or around the campfire. Not sure if there is a night ride this year.

Sunday might be a few more trails, some IFWDA event(s), and then the IFWDA meeting. I'll be staying for the meeting this year. Most folks start packing up sometime in the morning.

Things to bring:
- Camping supplies
- firewood
- Banners (Ryan has one, who has the other?)
- Canopy (Ryan, others)
- Camp chairs
- stocked coolers (snacks, drinks, etc...) Alcohol is fine (encouraged) at the camp - not on the trails!
- games, toys, entertainment (water guns, water balloons, cornhole game, etc...)

For the new folks:
Wilstem is pretty mild, but we have had breakage (tires, u-joints, driveshafts). The "ravines" can be pretty tough. There are bypasses for the harder stuff. Most of the trails are 2-tracks through the woods, some hills, very little (if any) mud. The ravines are rocky and fairly steep. The worst have ledges from 2-4 feet high, with little room side to side. Make sure you have secure recovery points front and rear and keep a strap handy. Ask for a spot if you need one, and don't feel bad if you need to back off and take a bypass (we all have). Most of all, enjoy the ride!

REMEMBER: there is a club meeting on THURSDAY night before Wilstem! We'll take care of last minute business, and have a regular meeting for folks that will not be making the trip.

Post up if you are a Morning or Afternoon person, so we don't leave you behind!

Do they need any help getting things ready if we were to go down on Thursday night?

Thanks
Ty (newbie)

If thursday is not an option then I will be a Friday morning guy!

Not sure. I'm going to see if they will be doing a cleanup this year in July. They usually do. I've tried to pre-run the trails the last few years, and they always schedule it when I'm out of town :-(

I have the other banner. I just hung it up in my new shop. I won't loose it if it is up on the wall. I know I have not been around much with moving and remodeling the new house things have been really hectic. I am going to try to make the meeting this week and of course Winlstem is always my favorite run so I will be there. See ya later

I don't believe the Ranch will be open to us on Thursday night. The soonest we can arrive is noon on Friday. If you leave with the early group, you should roll in right at noon.

If possible, can someone bring a chainsaw this year? I got word from Leonard that a couple of trails did not get pre-run last weekend, so may have a downed tree or two.

If we get enough club participation, we will get to run our own group again this year. How many are we up to so far?

I count:
Me (Trail guide)
Jarrod (Trail Guide)
Jeff
Eric (and Danny?)
Ty
Mike B.
Alex
Mark S.
Mike R.
Who else?

Jarrod - you and I have a 8PM Trail Guide meeting on Friday night. Of course, we will have already gone out by then :-D

I will be part of the "late" group, meeting @ McDonalds at 11:30AM on Friday.

Sounds like there will be a fair number of us "roughing it" at the Midwest Inn! Marlo and I, Jeff and Rhonda, Mike, Alex.....

See you all NEXT WEEK!

Hi Everyone,

Rhonda and I will be going with the late group on Friday.

We'll bring a washer game.

We've got some firewood; but, not means to take much down with us. If anyone wants to stop by here on the West side, we can provide some.

Anything else that we can bring?

Jeff

Jeff,

I can swing by on my way out on Friday. We can throw the wood in the pickup. I'm with the late group as well. Your place @ 10:30 or 10:45?

Looks like we might sneak this in between thunderstorms this weekend, and it will be a hot one!

Don't forget your camp chairs, for kicking back around the fire!

Hi Ryan,

That would be great. We'll plan on being ready by 10:30.

Take Care
